Description
I am a California girl who loves Minnesota, especially the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St Paul! When I first moved there, I settled in St. Paul near a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. An ancient Native American burial ground, Indian Mound Park is on that bluff. It contains burial mounds at least 1,500 – 2000 years old. I loved walking there in the early mornings. I found peace there walking and thinking about the people interred there and the lives they led.
The St. Paul area was inhabited by various Native American tribes for centuries. Most recently (the early 17th century) by various Sioux tribes. The Dakota Sioux called the area Imniza-Ska ("white cliffs") for its white sandstone cliffs on the river's eastern side. Europeans started arriving in the area in the late 1700s.
Fun Facts

• Saint Paul has 26 miles of Mississippi Riverfront, more than any other city along the river.
