Description
This painting was inspired by a #Landsat 8 image of Núñez de Balboa Solar Park in Spain.
The big yellow spot in the center of the painting is the solar park. It was completed in late 2019 and contain 1.4 million solar panels which made it the largest solar farm in the world at that time. It is expected to provide energy to 250,000 people per year plus a variety of businesses with an installed capacity of 500 megawatts.
The solar farm, located near the town of Usagre in western Spain, covers nearly 10 square kilometer (approximately four square miles) and weighs about 12,000 metric tons (26,000 pound). It is anticipated that the solar field will eliminate 215,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Now that is some fresh, clean air!
Speaking of solar panels, riddle me this…
Q. Why are solar panels so trustworthy?
A. They don’t work in the shadows.
Useless (but Interesting) Fact…
Sunlight takes a little over eight minutes to reach Earth and a few seconds longer to make contact with solar panels.
Consider This…
“Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.” ~ Victor Hugo
Be Kind…
“Life is mostly froth and bubble. Two things stand like stone: Kindness in another’s troubles. Courage in our own.” ~ Adam Lindsay Gordon
