Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) and of New Orleans just seem to go together seemed appropriate since the city is famous for its Mardi Gras celebration. The heart of the city is the French Quarter, famously known for its French and Spanish architecture, excellent food, and music. I spent some time there and I loved it!
Founded in 1718 by French colonists, New Orleans was once the territorial capital of French Louisiana before becoming part of the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.
Fun Facts
• Mardi Gras is actually a two-week celebration.
• The New Orleans city motto is “Laissez les bon temps rouler,” which means “let the good times roll.”
• The city’s nickname is “The Big Easy” thanks to its laid back, easy-going vibe.
• Much of the land in the city is below sea level So, to prevent flooding, homes are raised off the ground and do not have basements.
• Many people pronounce the city name as Nawlins and it is also known as NOLA...
I am an artist, writer, student of life, and irredeemable nerd. I came to painting rather late in life and I love it. It feeds my soul like nothing else. I am addicted to bright, pure color as you see in my paintings. My art coach is working with me to break that addiction. Thank you for taking your time to look at my work. I hope you enjoy it.
