Artist's Description

Richard Diebenkorn (1922 – 1993) was an American Abstract Expressionist artist. He was considered a California artist because he spent most of his life on the West Coast. In 1966, Diebenkorn moved from Berkley to Santa Monica where he found an art studio in the Ocean Park area. It was a beachfront neighborhood that was home to many artists.
In the 20-plus years that he worked in Ocean Park, he created 145 paintings, each represented something in or around the Ocean Park area and all used only geometric shaped and variations thereof.

This painting was inspired by Ocean Park Painting #47 although I changed the colors and used watercolors instead of oil paints.

Speaking of the ocean, riddle me this…
Q. Who cleans the ocean?
A. The mermaids.

Word of the week…
Frankenfood (noun): refers to genetically modified (GM) foods. GM foods are those that have been scientifically altered in some way, rather than growing naturally.

Consider this…

About Diane Chinn

Diane Chinn

I am an artist, writer, student of life, and irredeemable nerd. I came to painting rather late in life and I love it. It feeds my soul like nothing else. I am addicted to bright, pure color as you see in my paintings. My art coach is working with me to break that addiction. Thank you for taking your time to look at my work. I hope you enjoy it.
