The Christian Missionary Saint Mungo formally founded Glasgow in the 6th century when he built a church on the site of what is now the Glasgow Cathedral. Glasgow’s Gaelic name is “Glaschu,” which means “green space,” Today, Glasgow is home to 635,640 people.

• There is an area on Planet Mars that NASA named “Glasgow,” after Scotland's largest city.
