Description
The cosmos flower is similar to a daisy because it attracts butterflies and birds. We humans are also fond of it, especially the dark red cosmos, which smell like chocolate. Yumm, that’s my kind of flower!

Fun Facts
• The flower’s name comes from the Greek word kosmos which means order and harmony of the universe.
• The Cosmos is native to Mexico. Spanish priests and explorers took the seeds home to Spain with them. The English ambassador’s wife took seeds back to England in 1789 and in the mid-1850s, the flower was imported to the United States.
• The cosmos is often considered the “flower of love” and is given on Valentine’s Day.
• It was used as the symbol of the 19th century World Kindness Movement.
Folklore
• Spiritualists used it to unblock energy and give health to the wearer.
• It is associated with the throat chakra and is believed to help people with speaking issues. In the past, people who often spoke in public kept it around to help them with their speaking and persuasion.
• It was also used to treat malaria, diabetes, inflammation and to prolong life in some countries.
• The cosmos was believed to attract fairies because they are at home in the wild atmosphere created by the flower.
