This painting is my attempt to copy Franz Marc's painting "The Stony Path" (1911/1912). Of course, he painted in oils, and I did mine in watercolors. I also focused on just the upper half of the painting because I was intrigued by how he painted the more complex areas.
Franz Marc is best known for his "Blue Horse" and other animal paintings.

I first saw The Stony Path" at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2004, and I instantly knew that I wanted to paint a copy of it. It took me until 2010 to get around to doing that/ Whoever set up the lighting for the painting was very skilled because it was done in a way that made the paint look like it was still wet 92 years later.

To this day, it is my favorite painting!

I am an artist, writer, student of life, and irredeemable nerd. I came to painting rather late in life and I love it. It feeds my soul like nothing else.
