Artist's Description
During the California Gold Rush (1845 – 1855), the common phrase was "There's gold IN them thar hills." These days, the phase every year is "There's gold ON them thar hills" when the California hills are blanketed in the yellows, golds, and oranges of the State flower – the golden poppy in March, April and May It is almost impossible to be an artist living in California and not paint a golden poppy. They so beautiful and are woven into our very being.
