Description
A red tide is an algae bloom that occurs in the ocean after a large storm like a hurricane. The storm stirs up the ocean floor causing microorganisms to rise to the surface. This is probably more than you even want to know about red tides. But alas, I am a nerd! And darn proud of it.
In the psychology of color, red represents energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination, anger, heat and speed. It also represents passion, desire, and love. It is the most attention attracting color, often signaling danger. Approximately 9% of people say that red is their favorite color and wearing red is more likely to attract the attention of the opposite sex.
Red affects human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It also tends to provoke spontaneous purchases.
In the spiritual realm, the meaning of red is similar to its definition in the psychology of color. It stands for aggression, courage, creativity, energy, passion, strength, physical activity, security and warmth . Red is the root or first chakra color. It resides at the base of the spine and controls the immune system, lower body and spine.
By the way, do you know why the Coca Cola logo is red? Because, it was originally sold in barrels. But whiskey was also sold in barrels which were taxed while soft drinks were not. So, Coca Cola painted its barrels red to keep them from being taxed and to help customers pick the correct barrel.
Speaking of red,
Riddle me this…
Q: Why did the traffic light turn red?
A: You would too if you had to change in the middle of the street!
