Description
“May you live in interesting times” is purported to be the English translation of an ancient Chinese curse and we find ourselves living in very interesting times with Covid and the election just two weeks away. Like many people you are maybe feeling anxious, like one of the precariously balanced rocks in this painting. The slightest nudge, tremor or light breeze could send you crashing down.
“Psychology Today" defines anxiety as “… a mental state of both distress and arousal set off by sensing uncertain danger. It encompasses both cognitive elements—feelings of worry or dread in anticipation of some future bad outcome—and physical sensations, such as jitteriness and a racing heart. …Occasional bouts of anxiety are natural. By signaling that something isn’t quite right, anxiety can help us avoid danger and make important changes.” (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/anxiety)
Anxiety doesn’t fix anything. It just makes us miserable. “We feel that if we stop struggling with our inner state that nothing will change when in reality, the opposite is true. Does a broken leg or a cut finger not heal faster when left alone?” ~ Anonymous.
Speaking of anxiety
Riddle me this…
Q: Why was the math book always worried?
A: Because it had so many problems.
